‘Your perspective’ is Arcadis’s new onboarding program. It enables new employees to transition into their new job independently and without much ado, and helps them feel part of Arcadis. ‘Independently’ means they can answer their own questions, find their way in this global company’s organisational structure, and also feel part of Arcadis’s mission.

With over 27,000 people working in more than 350 offices spread out over 40 countries, Arcadis truly is a global company. Employees of all ages, job descriptions, and specialisms, from various cultures, speaking different languages, and fulfilling a diversity of roles are all crucial to the organisation. What they all have in common is the vision and values that make them an Arcadian.

Assignment

‘Your perspective’ is Arcadis’s new onboarding program. It enables new employees to transition into their new job independently and without much ado, and helps them feel part of Arcadis. ‘Independently’ means they can answer their own questions, find their way in this global company’s organisational structure, and also feel part of Arcadis’s mission.

Working professionally

We take the newcomer on a journey into the Arcadis story, during which they can learn as well as give input. They can ask questions, for example, and share information with other newcomers. Also, they are encouraged to start building a social network from the start. Through the onboarding program you can see who might be important for you within your region, and via social media you can contact your future boss and/or colleagues. This way, newcomers have a personal guide during the onboarding phase and they can already start contributing to the organisation.

Working professionally

Result

The result of our collaboration is ‘Your perspective’: a new, global onboarding program for new Arcadis employees. It provides them with an insight into Arcadis: who they are, and what they do. The program shows you example Arcadis projects, allows you to meet colleagues, and helps you understand Arcadis’s mission.

The onboarding program guides the newcomer through the first weeks, using everything from mini-games and e-learning aspects to practical tips. All company aspects are touched upon: marketing, HR and more.

The introduction program focuses on ‘your perspective’. Arcadis seeks interaction with its new employees, and through questions they are challenged to introduce themselves and share information that is relevant for the company. One of the aspects of the program is a personal Pinterest wall for each new employee. You can read stories told by other newcomers here, and share practical advice. You’re also encouraged to contact new colleagues through social media. This way, you’ll have a social network from the get-go.

Arcadis offers a lot of information to newcomers, and to structure it and make it easier to digest it is personalised. This means that, depending on who you are and what you’re going to do, you’ll receive information that is only relevant to you. This way you are creating your own learning pathway.
